Laser Eye Center of Hawaii

"From the minute I walked into the Laser Eye Center of Hawaii, I felt very confident. They were highly recommended and their staff was extremely caring and comforting. I felt no pressure to have the procedure. Dr. Jenkins explained each step of the procedure and this made me feel much more at ease. I was so surprised at how quick and painless the procedure was. The results were almost immediate and have exceeded all of my expectations. The center followed up with phone calls, which really made me feel that my care was important to them. I highly recommend the Laser Eye Center of Hawaii to anyone considering this procedure. It has changed my life! Mahalo!"

Why Choose Laser Eye Center of Hawaii?

Laser Eye Center of Hawaii and its over 100 affiliated doctors is a well-established quality eye care center that has been around since the first FDA approval in 1995. We are a locally-based and operated company with a long-term commitment to Hawaii and its community.

What we hear over and over again from our patients is that the reason why they chose Laser Eye Center of Hawaii is because of our experience level and the quality care we provide. They realize that this is a medical procedure performed on their eyes, so experience, not price is the most important factor.

Laser Eye Center of Hawaii is proud to have the most experienced laser refractive surgeons in the State, having performed over 20,000 procedures. Dr. Carlos Omphroy was the first to perform laser surgery (PRK) and Dr. Tyrie Jenkins was the first to perform the LASIK procedure in Hawaii. Both surgeons have achieved national recognition as one of the top 100 (5%) refractive surgeons in the country. In addition, Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Omphroy are the only surgeons in Hawaii certified to train other surgeons on the use of the VISX laser system.

We offer patients the most advanced laser vision correction with the VISX Star S4 IR Active Track Excimer Laser System and the lastest released, FDA-approved CustomVue™ Procedure with WaveScan® System. The Active Track technology incorporates a unique 3-D eye-tracker that actively tracks the patient’s eye and guides the laser. This feature helps make the Active Track the most advanced of its kind. The CustomVue™ Procedure represents the latest in laser vision technology. Incorporating the WaveScan® System, an individual’s laser correction is now uniquely tailored, giving us even more confidence about the expected outcome and setting a new standard for laser vision correction.

Our affiliation with over a hundred optometrists and opthalmologists throughout the State is an important part of the services we offer. Neighbor Island patients have the convenience of seeing a trained and credentialed panel doctor on their island for pre- and post-operative care at no additional charge.

We invite patients to visit our state-of-the-art facility—see the difference quality and experience makes. Laser Eye Center of Hawaii offers free consultation exams. There is no obligation or high-pressure tactics to try and get your business. We realize how important, and at times stressful, the decision to have laser vision correction can be. We are here to provide you with information and assist you through your decision making process.

Important Questions to Ask
When Considering LASIK Surgery

  • Who will be my surgeon and how many LASIK procedures have they performed?
  • What is their success rate?
  • What is their retreatment rate?
  • What type of laser do they use?
  • Does their laser have FDA approval for the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism?
  • Does their laser have the ability to "fine tune" or handle over and under corrections?
  • What happens if I should need a re-treatment?
  • Are my pre-and post-operative exams included in your fees and for how long? If I live on the neighbor islands, will I need to fly to Honolulu for my exams or will I be able to see a local doctor at no additional charge?
  • Do you offer free consultation exams? Do I need to put any deposit down to make an appointment? Is this deposit refundable?
  • Do you offer an easy and affordable patient payment plan?
  • Why is your center able to offer this surgery at a much lower price? Are there any hidden costs or issues behind the low dollar fees?
